Historic Oakland is a highly sought-after event venue in Howard County. Our manor offers three levels of entertaining space accommodating up to 180 guests. This historic venue has hosted corporate affairs, non-profit fundraisers, family reunions, baby blessings, memorial services, craft shows, and many other celebrations. If you are hosting an event at Historic Oakland, there are a few things you need to know. Keep reading for some tips on hosting your next event.
Pricing Breakdown
Price is determined by the day and time you rent the venue and the specific area(s) you contract. Depending on usage, the front lawn, the Bishop’s Garden, and the back lawn are included. The tent is an additional rental cost when renting the house. Oakland’s venue is “ala carte,” which allows our clients to provide everything else to complete their day. The rental includes setting up and taking down of Oakland’s tables and chairs. If you bring in rental equipment, Oakland staff is not responsible for setting up or taking down that equipment. An Oakland Facility Assistant is onsite to manage the venue on the day of your event.
Weekday Rates vs. Weekend Rates
Many people prefer to host their events on the weekend so they don’t have to take off work, school, etc. But since weekends are so popular, we must adjust our event rates accordingly. For Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the total rate package for the House, tent, and equipment is $5,800 for 8 hours and $6,100 for 10 hours. On the other hand, weekday rates range between $600 – $1,250 depending on the room you choose and the length of your event. Tent rental is an extra fee, so be sure to carefully read all the pricing information before booking your event.
What is Included in the Packages?
No matter if your event is on a weekend or during the week, the following is complimentary:
- Inside tables & chairs with set-up
- On-site Facility Assistant to manage the venue
- Free on-site parking – 94 spaces
- Covered outdoor veranda (not climate-controlled)
- Kitchen
Your rental includes tables, standard banquet chairs, and our kitchen includes a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, convection oven, warming cabinet, and ice. We also provide a list of approved vendors on our website if you need a caterer, bartender, makeup artist, or anything else.
Are Children and Pets Allowed at the Event?
Oakland welcomes all social gatherings, including Sweet Sixteen, Quinceañera, and baby showers/celebrations. When holding this type of event at Oakland, a Children, Teen & Young Adult Celebration addendum is required to be signed to accompany your contract.
Your beloved family dogs are welcome on the outdoor grounds only. Your pet must be on a leash at all times. It is also your responsibility to clean up any mess your pet makes immediately. An Oakland Pet Addendum must be completed 30 days before the event date, along with a picture of the pet, in order for the pet to be permitted on Oakland’s property.
