Planning a wedding can be stressful and overwhelming, but choosing the right wedding venue can make a big difference. Historic venues offer a unique and memorable setting for your special day with many benefits. Oakland has the grace and beauty of a “Step Back in Time.” It is a lovely site for weddings, and it also serves as the community center for the residents of Columbia Town Center. In this way, Oakland has been adapted for modern uses while preserving the heritage of its past. If you’re interested in hosting your wedding at Historic Oakland, here are a few things that should be on your wedding venue checklist.
Availability and Capacity Requirements
The two most basic and vital wedding venue requirements are whether they’re available on your date and can accommodate the number of guests. That’s why drafting your guest list before you begin your venue search is essential. At Historic Oakland, our most elegant room on the main level can accommodate approximately 80 guests seated banquet style. Using the Veranda brings your total guest seating capacity to over 100, and utilizing the foyer will add even more. Larger receptions or parties of up to 180 guests occur under a beautifully appointed tent in our nicely manicured back lawn from March through mid-November. If you need to expand your wedding space, several other gorgeous rooms are available, such as the Magnolia Room, the Library, and the Bishop’s Garden. Please contact us for availability as soon as you have set a date to ensure you get the desired rooms.
What is Included in the Venue?
Event venues can be expensive. You need to know what you are getting for your money. Is it just the space, or are there other things included? Tables and chairs are the most common inclusions, but you should reach out to a prospective venue to determine exactly what is included in the price. When you book your wedding at Historic Oakland, you can hire any caterer to make your event memorable. Your caterer may be your favorite restaurant or a few of your favorite dishes from a local market. Other complimentary features include:
- Stunning indoor or outdoor options
- Private lounge for getting ready for your special day
- Covered outdoor veranda (not climate-controlled)
- Intimate, stone-walled outdoor ceremony area (Bishop’s Garden)
- Wedding rehearsal time
- No ceremony fee
- Table and chair set up within the house
- Banquet, rounds, cocktail tables, and indoor chairs
- On-site day of Facility Assistant
- Commercial warming kitchen (Convection Oven, Refrigerator/Freezer, 3 Tier Sink)
- Off-street free parking
Cost Breakdown
Weddings aren’t cheap, and the venue takes up a good portion of your budget, so knowing what you can spend is very important. Ask your venue coordinator for a breakdown of the costs of hosting a wedding. At Historic Oakland, our price is determined by the day and time you rent the venue and the specific area(s) you contract. Depending on usage, the front lawn, the Bishop’s Garden, and the back lawn are included. The tent is an additional rental cost when renting the house.
